Out of around 100 ideas that began STARTER programme on September 6 best teams pitched their ideas at the STARTER Finals at sTARTUp Day 2019. Team Timey won the competition! Timey is developing a smart best before indicator sticker for food producers to put on their packaging.
Teams that got to pitch are winners of pre-round pitching competitions in Tallinn and in Tartu. In addition, two teams from Kyiv came to give demo pitches. They are the winners of Yep!STARTER programme – a collaborative project between the University of Tartu IdeaLab and Ukrainian partners.
The overall winner got tickets to Actric15 – the most effective matchmaking startup event in the Nordics and Baltics.
The judges were Yrjö Ojasaar (Change Ventures), Andrus Purde (Outfunnel), Kei Karlson (GoWorkabit) and Peeter Nieler (Criffin).
„These projects were really interesting!“ said judge Yrjö Ojasaar. „Some of them were quite unique! I think that Timey has a chance to get real attention at the Arctic15 because their business model is scalable and it might become a very huge thing!“.

• PäikesEST – changes solar energy consuming by different measuring technology’s that will help people to change their habits.
STARTERlab teams:
• TRIT – makes translators more visible, translation more resource efficient and placing orders easier.
• VEINC – is an innovative wine course for all wine lovers. It is based on subscription box service, that delivers 3 bottles of wine to your door every month, with educational information.
Yep!STARTER teams:
• Fonetify – a browser extension that helps to pronounce English text correctly.
• GiftHub –makes the purchase of gifts simpler by using a robot (bot) text messaging.
